New Jersey boasts over 900,000 acres of wetland environments, nearly 20% of the land in the Garden State.
From the coasts of the Jersey Shore to freshwater swamps, wetlands are crucial for coastal protection, flood and wildfire prevention, as well as providing a home to thousands of species of plants and animals. But a combination of threats – climate change, rising sea levels, and human development – has eliminated half of the wetlands in New Jersey.
This documentary short film by Jackson Hesley explores some of the challenges facing our wetlands and the people dedicated to preserving them.
