Alyson Dougherty grew up in Barnegat, New Jersey. It’s where she made her first friends, first swam in the ocean, worked her first job, and where she found her passion for environmental sustainability.
“I think I speak for everyone who lives on the island when I say that Hurricane Sandy was our first wake-up call,” she says. “It showed us how vulnerable we really are living on a barrier island.”
